70 years of COBRA

The Gert Jan Hemmink collection

In 2011 we sold the most important collection of Hugo Claus to date, brought together by Gert Jan Hemmink. In fact, Claus was the starting point of another passionate quest as he introduced Hemmink to the founders of COBRA. As a result this second impressive collection comprises an extraordinary correspondence with Dotremont, association copies and original drawings by Alechinsky, Appel, Corneille, Constant and Reinhoud. The sale includes a total of 208 lots: graphic works, books and original editions of periodicals and announcements and is truffed with a lot of unique material and artist’s books. A brilliant representation of COBRA on the occasion of its 70th anniversary.

Lot 35: Pierre Alechinsky. € 1.250 - 1.750. Realised: € 1.400
