The Henri van der Tol Collection and Selected Photographs
Over the past three decades, Amsterdam collector Henri van der Tol has assembled an impressive, highly international photography collection, including vintage prints and work by contemporary photographers in a wide range of printing techniques. The Van der Tol collection includes, among others, pieces by Irving Penn, Horst P. Horst, Viviane Sassen, Rineke Dijkstra, Erwin Blumenfeld, Man Ray, Brassaï, Eugène Atget, Edward Weston, Alfred Eisenstaedt and Gustave Le Gray – names that together form a cross-section of the history of photography.
Interesting pieces from other private collections were selected to complete this diverse photography sale. Dutch photography is represented by artists such as Eva Besnyö, Sanne Sannes, Gerard Fieret, Cas Oorthuys, Erwin Olaf and Paul Blanca while the international selection includes works by artists such as Miles Aldridge, Nan Goldin, Wolfgang Tillmans and Bernd and Hilla Becher.
